Poor Air Quality and Your Health - Take Care and Spare the Air
With all of the recent California fires, you may have noticed how poor the air quality has been. The Sacramento Region has put a Spare the Air Alert in effect through Friday, August 3rd.
Poor air quality (caused by air pollution from smoke, smog, etc.) can make breathing difficult for individuals with asthma and other respiratory conditions.
With the amount of smoke our area has been seeing, it has even been effecting those who are considered healthy.
The CDC has a plethora of resources for those with asthma, COPD, heart disease, and children (as they are more sensitive to air quality). We highly recommend that you check out their articles.
How To Take Care In Spare the Air
- Spare the air (i.e. stay indoors)
- Avoid driving (as driving further pollutes the air)
- Before venturing out, make sure to sparetheair.com to keep up to date with air quality conditions, recommendations, and alerts.
Dr. MaKieve, Dr. Najmabadi, and Tiffany all agree that when the air quality is unhealthy that it is best to stay in doors. Doctor's order!
